Mind Activation Through Education (MATE) is a flagship initiative of the Mental Health Foundation, India (MHFI) , dedicated to nurturing holistic health among adolescent students. Recognizing that adolescence is a critical phase for mental health development, MATE focuses on fortifying prevention and treatment services to reduce the future burden of mental disorders in the country. Tailored modules within this initiative target every aspect of an adolescent's well-being, from mental health to emotional resilience, aiming to cultivate positive mental health practices and equip young people with the tools to face life's challenges

MATE aims to support adolescents in their holistic development and well-being by providing early interventions, continuous support, and enhancing their critical thinking capacity. Our goal is to reduce mental health issues among school children through proactive measures and accessible care. We work to improve access to comprehensive medical and social care services for vulnerable school children, ensuring that all students receive the necessary support for their mental and emotional well-being.
We help in identifying early signs of mental health concerns and guide targeted interventions. We organize tailored workshops that are culturally relevant and designed to equip students with the knowledge and skills to manage their mental health, build resilience, and promote emotional well-being.
We offer individualized online dashboards for students and schools, providing access to mental health resources, self-help tools, and continuous support to foster long-term well-being.
We connect students in need of professional intervention to our MiHOPE and NEVER Alone tele-mental health services and extend the MATE+ program for specific needs, such as stress management, anxiety, and anti-bullying workshops.
We cultivate peer support networks among adolescents to provide immediate emotional assistance and raise mental health awareness, while also educating parents, teachers, and counsellors through training programs. This ensures that adolescents receive tailored mental health support in both peer and adult environments, fostering a culture of understanding and care.

Often, their struggles are deemed as insignificant due to their youth, resulting in neglect. Yet, it is during this crucial developmental stage that if we do not listen, we leave them vulnerable to a range of mental health issues as they transition into adulthood.
